Principal Civil Engineer
I am working with a highly regarded, employee-owned engineering consultancy in their search for a Principal or Associate Civil Engineer to join their dynamic team in Cardiff. This organisation is celebrated for its innovation and technical excellence, with over six decades of delivering transformative projects across the UK. Their portfolio spans high-profile developments in sectors such as education, healthcare, housing regeneration, heritage and conservation, luxury developments, and data centres.
This opportunity offers more than technical responsibility, it''s an invitation to become part of a supportive and collaborative environment where careers are carefully developed, and contributions are truly valued.
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will take a lead role in the delivery of civil engineering design projects. You''ll be responsible for managing design programmes, ensuring team coordination, and aligning project schedules and resources effectively to achieve high-quality, on-time results.
In addition to technical leadership, you''ll play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians, contributing to both their development and the continued success of the wider team.
What We''re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in the design and delivery of civil engineering projects, particularly in sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), flood risk assessments (FRAs), and stakeholder engagement with Local Drainage Authorities.
Key skills and experience required include:
·Strong background in SuDS and FRA delivery
·Experience collaborating with Local Authorities and SABs (especially beneficial in Wales)
·Proven ability to lead project delivery programmes, manage budgets, and coordinate design teams
·Proficiency in Civil 3D for drainage network design
·Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
·Passion for mentoring and supporting professional development of colleagues
·Chartered status (or working towards it under a recognised Institution training pathway)
On Offer
·Competitive salary and benefits package
·Award-winning training and professional development programmes
·Supportive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture
·Recognition as an Investors in People - Platinum employer
