About the Role
This full-time Primary Teacher role in Birmingham involves teaching a Key Stage 2 class within a specialist SEMH setting in South Birmingham. Working for The Education Network Birmingham, the successful candidate will deliver the Primary curriculum to a small group of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education. A calm, resilient and adaptable approach is needed, with the ability to build positive relationships and create engaging lessons. Primary Teacher – Key Stage 2 SEMH

This Dynamic SEMH school in South Birmingham is seeking an experienced Primary Teacher to teach a Key Stage 2 class of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a Primary-trained teacher who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education. You will teach a small class, delivering the Primary curriculum in a structured, supportive environment where positive relationships and consistency are key.
The successful Primary Teacher will have experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and be confident managing challenging behaviour. You will need a calm, resilient and adaptable approach, with the ability to create engaging lessons that meet pupils' individual needs and abilities.
Job Role:
- Teach a small Key Stage 2 class of pupils with SEMH needs
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Primary curriculum
- Adapt learning to meet pupils' individual needs and abilities
- Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and engagement
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching approaches accordingly
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and specialist colleagues
- Create a safe, structured and positive classroom environment
- Qualified Teacher Status or a recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching the Primary curriculum
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A patient, resilient and consistent approach
- Ability to build positive relationships and adapt teaching to individual needs
