TeacherActive is proud to be working with a supportive and inclusive school in Abertillery that is dedicated to helping pupils with Additional Learning Needs achieve their full potential. The school has a well-established Communication and Interaction Base and prides itself on creating a nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to develop independence, confidence and positive relationships.

The school is looking to appoint a Teacher on a long-term basis from September. The successful Teacher will work within the specialist Communication and Interaction Base, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs. The role will involve planning and delivering tailored lessons, promoting communication skills, encouraging positive social outcomes and working closely with support staff and families to ensure the best outcomes for every learner.

The successful Teacher will have:

• QTS (NQTs are welcome to apply)
• Experience working with children or young people with ALN, particularly Autism / ASD
• Experience planning and delivering differentiated learning programmes
• A strong understanding of strategies to support communication and interaction needs
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
• A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach to teaching
