Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Lewisham

A fantastic, inclusive Primary School in Lewisham is searching for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2026. This is the perfect opportunity for a graduate considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Teaching or Child Mental Health.

This Primary SEN Teaching Assistant role will see you supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties and Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs. You will work closely alongside experienced teachers, SEN professionals and therapists, gaining invaluable hands-on experience within a supportive school environment.

The school is specifically looking for academically strong graduates with a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university, who are confident, compassionate and genuinely passionate about supporting children with SEN.

  • Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCO and external professionals
  • Supporting children academically, socially and emotionally
  • Full-time, Term-Time Only

  • -14.29 - -16.65 per hour

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Must hold a 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a reputable university
  • Strong academic background throughout education
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
  • Passionate about SEN and child development
  • Patient, empathetic and proactive personality
  • Aspiring Educational Psychologist, Therapist, Teacher or SEN professional
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
