You will be looking after the buildings and grounds of Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park, making sure everything is secure and ready for learning each day.The salary shown is the full-time equivalent and will be adjusted pro rata based on 39 weeks per year (term-time only), 37.5 hours per week; actual salary £26,732.25.CLICK HERE FOR A FULL JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION.About UsOur academy is a member of the Harris Federation, a group of 55 primary and secondary academies in and around London educating some 44,000 young people. The Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance enables us not only to train and develop teachers and leaders in our own academies, but also to do so for other schools.Each academy is led and run by its Principal and other senior leaders: we are deliberately a federation rather than a chain. What unites us is a culture that ensures the children and teenagers in our schools get an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.Main Areas of ResponsibilityYour responsibilities will include:Following health and safety rules and reporting any hazards or risksChecking and cleaning academy vehicles (if trained to do so)Helping teachers with practical tasks and classroom setupsKeeping the site secure, including locking gates and monitoring accessReporting unsafe behaviour or anything that could be a safety riskCarrying out repairs, decorating and general maintenanceSupporting and supervising contractors working on-siteKeeping the grounds tidy, including litter picking and emptying binsChecking toilets for cleanliness and restocking suppliesWalking around the site regularly to keep corridors and outdoor areas cleanHelping move furniture for events or examsReporting broken lights, graffiti or damaged fixturesQualifications and ExperienceWe would like to hear from you if you have:Basic knowledge of health and safetyTraining or experience in plumbing, maintenance or heating systemsUnderstanding of how heating and ventilation systems workKnowledge of building security and maintenance proceduresExperience supervising or supporting othersKnowledge of cleaning standards and methodsExperience working in a school or with young peopleStrong DIY skills and hands-on experiencePhysical fitness to the level required for lifting and manual tasksThe ability to spot and report building issuesThe ability to manage stock and order suppliesWillingness to work evenings and weekends when neededThe ability to respond to emergencies outside normal hoursFor a full job description and person specification, please download the Job Pack.Next StepsIf you have any questions about this opportunity, please send us an email, or call to arrange a conversation.Before applying, please download the Job Pack for full details on the job responsibilities and person specification.
