Hays Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly regarded independent preparatory school in Essex to recruit an exceptional Music Teacher for its Early Years and Key Stage 1 provision.

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic music specialist who can bring energy, imagination and expertise to the classroom, creating memorable musical experiences for young learners and fostering a culture where music is celebrated throughout the school community.

The Role

As Music Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a rich and engaging programme of music education across Early Years and Key Stage 1. Through singing, movement,rhythm, instrumental exploration and performance opportunities, you will nurture children''s musical development while building confidence, communication skills and creativity.

Working closely with school leaders and teaching colleagues, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the music provision, helping toestablish a curriculum that is inspiring, inclusive and ambitious.

You will create lessons that encourage active participation and enjoyment, enabling every child to develop a strong musical foundation regardless of prior experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality music lessons across Early Years and Key Stage 1.
  • Introduce pupils to fundamental musical concepts including rhythm, tempo, pitch, dynamics and performance.
  • Foster a love of music through engaging, interactive and age-appropriate activities.
  • Inspire creativity through singing, movement, composition and musical exploration.
  • Encourage confidence and participation in both individual and group performances.
  • Organise and support concerts, assemblies, seasonal productions and wider school events.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to support development.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where all children can thrive.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate music into the broader curriculum where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the school''s wider enrichment programme and cultural life.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will be a passionate educator with a genuine enthusiasm for introducing young children to the joys of music.

You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching music within an Early Years, KS1 or primary setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and practical musical skills.
  • A creative and engaging approach to teaching and learning.
  • The ability to inspire confidence, curiosity and participation among young learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding educational experience for every child.
  • The enthusiasm to contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
