Practice Nurse - Tiverton, Devon

Summary

We are recruiting for a thriving GP practice in Tiverton, Devon seeking an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join their established multidisciplinary team.

This role can be offered on a part-time or full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Vaccinations & travel medicine
  • Wound care (ulcers, Doppler, dressings, suture removal)
  • Chronic disease management (diabetes including insulin initiation, asthma, COPD, CHD, hypertension, hypothyroidism, stroke)
  • Phlebotomy, urinalysis, ECGs, pathology requests
  • Cervical cytology & women''s health (contraception, IUD checks, pessary care)
  • Immunisation programmes (childhood, adult, travel)
  • Smoking cessation, health promotion, lifestyle advice

Professional & Administrative:

  • Maintain accurate clinical records (EMIS system in use)
  • Support audits, QOF/CQC-related work
  • Ensure infection prevention & control compliance
  • Manage stock and clinical waste appropriately
  • Participate in staff training, mentoring, and induction
  • Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality

  • Multidisciplinary team including GPs, pharmacists, ANPs, paramedics, nurses, HCAs, and admin staff

Person Specification

Essential

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Post-registration qualifications in Diabetes Management and Asthma
  • Experience in Primary Care and as a Practice Nurse
  • Competence in chronic disease management, wound care, immunisations, cervical cytology, travel medicine
  • Excellent IT, communication, and time management skills

Desirable

  • Postgraduate diploma/degree in Primary Care
  • EMIS experience
