Sixth Form Teacher - SEND
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and committed Sixth Form Teacher to join our bespoke Post-16 provision within our successful Special Educational Needs School in Grimsby.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who is dedicated to supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to develop the skills, confidence and independence required for adulthood. Our Sixth Form provision focuses on preparation for adulthood, employability, further education, independent living and positive destinations for all learners.
The Role
As a Sixth Form Teacher, you will deliver engaging and personalised learning programmes for students aged 16-19 with a range of additional needs. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external agencies, you will support students to achieve their individual aspirations and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality teaching and learning for Post-16 students with SEND.
- Develop programmes that promote independence, employability, functional skills and life skills.
- Monitor, assess and track student progress against individual targets.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans.
- Support students'' preparation for adulthood and transition into further education, employment or supported internships.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, carers and external professionals.
- Create an inclusive, supportive and engaging learning environment.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Have experience working with young people with SEND.
- Have knowledge of Post-16 education and preparation for adulthood pathways.
- Be committed to inclusive education and achieving positive outcomes for all learners.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Be creative, flexible and motivated to make a lasting difference.
Experience within a specialist SEND, alternative provision or special school setting is desirable but not essential.
