The role''s primary focus is on the synthesis of polymer and organic products that will then be scaled up from the lab to pilot plant to full industrial production scale. To facilitate the smooth and successful process transfer during scale up you will be expected to:Draft detailed process documentation and train production staff on new processesCollaborate with QC teams to develop appropriate test methods and maintain quality during scale-upWork with Procurement to identify and qualify new raw materialsEngage with external customers and support trial manufactureSupport operations teams in ongoing product manufacture and continuous improvement initiativesDrive process improvement projects (including waste minimisation and efficiency enhancement)Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulationsThe job involves a lot of manual handling including the lifting and carrying of a variety of items, so all applicants should be prepared to engage in physically demanding work.What you''ll bring
EssentialA degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science or Polymer Science related fieldPractical, hands-on experience in organic or polymer synthesis at lab and/or pilot plant scaleStrong experience in free radical polymerisation (solution and/or emulsion), polyurethane chemistry and semi-batch processingProven ability to scale up exothermic reactions safely and effectivelyStrong troubleshooting skills and understanding of chemical process safetyKnowledge of confidentiality practices and handling of chemical hazards and wasteA Forklift Licence or the capacity/willingness to learnYou can also send your CV through to Dylan Starling atSeniority level
