PMLD Teaching Assistant - SEN School - Barrow-in-Furness

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Competitive daily rate: -95 - -125 (depending on experience)

Contract: Long-term with the potential to go permanent

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a dedicated SEN school in Barrow-in-Furness, currently seeking a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a skilled and nurturing team, supporting pupils with complex physical, medical, and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting students with PMLD on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Assisting with personal care, including toileting and feeding
• Supporting physiotherapy and sensory programmes under guidance
• Using specialist equipment and communication tools (e.g., hoists, PECs, switches)
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare staff
• Promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex needs, or severe disabilities
• Be comfortable providing personal care and physical support
• Demonstrate a calm, patient and empathetic approach
• Be able to use (or willing to learn) specialist communication methods
• Hold a relevant care or education qualification (desirable but not essential)
