Plumbing Lecturer
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment within Plumbing programmes, supporting learners to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for successful progression into employment or further education. The postholder will inspire and motivate students whilst maintaining high standards of achievement, attendance and learner engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and effective teaching across a range of Plumbing qualifications and levels.
Plan, prepare and assess learning activities in line with awarding body and curriculum requirements.
Monitor, track and report on student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
Ensure teaching resources and workshop environments are safe, well-maintained and fit for purpose.
Promote positive learner behaviour and maintain high expectations of attendance, punctuality and performance.
Participate in curriculum development and quality improvement activities.
Undertake student tutorial and pastoral responsibilities as required.
Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation.
Keep up to date with developments within the Plumbing industry and integrate current industry practices into teaching.
Comply with all safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, and college policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Relevant qualifications in Plumbing or a related discipline.
Strong industry background within the Plumbing sector.
Previous teaching, training or assessing experience is desirable; however, candidates with substantial industry experience and a passion for developing future professionals will also be considered.
Excellent practical and technical knowledge of Plumbing systems, installation and maintenance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate, engage and support learners of varying abilities.
Good organisational and administrative skills.
Commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Certificate in Education or equivalent) is desirable.
Candidates without a teaching qualification must be willing to work towards one where applicable.
Enhanced DBS check required.
Experience delivering further education, apprenticeship or vocational training programmes.
Relevant assessing and/or internal quality assurance qualifications.
Experience using virtual learning environments and digital learning technologies.
Knowledge of current awarding body requirements and industry standards.
