Plumbing Engineer
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Plumbing Engineer to join a growing installation team, working on a variety of construction and mechanical installation projects.
This is a practical, site-based role suited to someone with a strong background in plumbing, pipework installation and general mechanical construction. The successful candidate will be confident reading technical drawings, carrying out first-fix installations, using a range of tools and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors and project management, taking responsibility for your work while supporting the smooth delivery of projects from installation through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble and maintain pipework systems, fittings and associated mechanical equipment.
- Carry out first-fix pipework installation, including measuring, cutting, fitting and connecting pipework.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, including CAD and Revit plans, to carry out site installations accurately.
- Assist with setting out site works, including establishing datums, gridlines and installation points.
- Conduct pressure testing and assist with commissioning and quality checks.
- Carry out mechanical plant room installations, equipment fit-outs and associated pipework connections.
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently to complete installation, construction and finishing tasks.
- Measure, plan and coordinate material and fitting requirements to ensure work progresses efficiently.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors when required, ensuring quality standards and project deadlines are maintained.
- Work collaboratively with site managers, engineers and other trades to resolve installation challenges.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in accordance with site health and safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in plumbing, pipework installation, mechanical installation or a similar construction-based role.
- Good understanding of pipework systems, fittings, installation methods and associated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site plans.
- Practical experience with hand and power tools.
- A valid UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across London, the Southeast and other UK locations when required.
- Flexibility to stay away from home occasionally for projects further afield.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism.
- Valid CSCS card.
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
- Experience with mechanical plant room installations and equipment fit-outs.
- Experience setting out site works using datums and gridlines.
- Knowledge of CAD and Revit drawings.
- Relevant industry qualifications or membership of a recognised engineering or installation body.
Most projects are based across London and the Southeast, with additional work in areas such as Oxford and Brighton. Occasional travel to projects further afield will be required, including overnight stays where necessary.
