Key Responsibilities 1. Material Preparation and Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including General Arrangement (GA), detail, and isometric drawings. Mark out materials for cutting and shaping using templates, scribers, or CNC programming. Select appropriate materials (e.g., carbon steel S355, stainless steel 316L, aluminium). 2. Fabrication and Forming: Operate heavy machinery to cut and shape metal: Thermal Cutting: Plasma, oxy-fuel, and laser cutters. Mechanical Cutting: Guillotines, band saws. Forming: Press brakes, rollers, and plate bending machines to form plates into cylinders, cones, etc. Perform thermal straightening to correct distortions in metal. 3. Assembly and Fitting: Assemble components using jigs, fixtures, and tack welds to ensure precise alignment before final welding. Fit and align large sections and plate work to tight tolerances (often within 2mm). Use measuring equipment (verniers, levels, laser alignment tools) to check accuracy. ..... full job details .....
