Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic / Heavy Plant Engineer

Location: Leeds
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Plant Mechanic, Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Engineer looking to join a well-established engineering business where no two days are the same?

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated engineer to join their growing team in Leeds. Working both in the workshop and at customer sites, you''ll be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of heavy plant and industrial machinery used across multiple sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, hands-on team where you''ll be involved in varied and technically challenging work, with opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced team of plant mechanics, welders and fitters, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy plant and industrial machinery. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and structural faults, carry out planned preventative maintenance and undertake repairs to minimise equipment downtime. The role will also involve welding and fabrication work, fitting and replacing mechanical components, and ensuring machinery is operating safely and efficiently before being returned to service.

You will complete maintenance records accurately, work to high health and safety standards, and provide support both in the workshop and at customer sites. Occasional overnight stays will be required when supporting customer projects further afield, and overtime may be available to meet operational requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant, construction equipment or industrial machinery and possess strong mechanical fault-finding and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. Welding and fabrication experience would be highly advantageous, along with the ability to carry out preventative maintenance programmes and interpret engineering drawings confidently.

You should be comfortable using a wide range of hand and power tools, have a proactive approach to problem-solving, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team. Good communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the flexibility to travel to customer sites and undertake occasional overnight stays when required. A recognised apprenticeship or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance, Welding or a related discipline would be advantageous.

What''s on Offer

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering a varied and interesting workload, the chance to work on a diverse range of heavy plant and industrial equipment, ongoing training and development, a supportive working environment and opportunities for overtime.

If you''re an experienced Plant Mechanic, Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer or Mechanical Fitter looking for your next challenge, we''d love to hear from you.
