Plant Coordinator

PSR Rail Team are currently recruiting for a Plant Coordinator in Birmingham. This will be working for a Tier 1 Rail contractor who focus on delivering construction and maintenance works across the rail industry.
Key Responsibilities
Hire Management:
Arrange all internal and external plant hire as per contract requirements.
Ensure accurate on-hire/off-hire entries in the COUPA system.
Maintain full audit trails for all hires and off-hires.
Supplier & Service Oversight:
Monitor supplier service levels and report substandard performance to the Procurement Manager.
Handle plant hire queries and escalate for necessary sign-offs.
Tracking & Reporting:
Update plant trackers for all contracts regularly.
Actively track all tools and equipment locations.
Investigate and address discrepancies in hire sheets immediately.
Maintenance & Compliance:
Record and monitor all costs related to repairs, losses, and damages.
Carry out regular plant audits and ensure proper documentation for any loss/theft.
Comply with internal procedures and regulatory requirements (e.g., PUWER, LOLER).
Continuous Improvement:
Proactively improve systems and processes in line with evolving project needs.
Perform any other duties required to meet operational needs.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience in plant coordination on infrastructure projects.
Background in plant hire desk operations.
Working knowledge of PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations).
Strong commercial acumen, including budget monitoring.
Strong communication skills with both internal teams and external suppliers.
High attention to detail in contractual and order-related tasks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Skills & Qualifications
GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
A full UK driving licence is desirable (for potential site visits).
