Overview

Murphy is recruiting for a Planning Manager or a Senior Planner to work with Energy split role between NOWZ and GGP. The Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone Project in Norwich is one of national significance, part of the UK government’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. GGP, the Norwich to Tilbury scheme, is part of our delivery of the Great Grid partnership (GGP). The project is mobilising project teams to support early works, including DCO support, ahead of site commencement mid 2027. The works are split between Norwich, Essex and Suffolk, with GGP support in Birmingham. Our business supports engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects for regulated and private customers, alongside technical and engineering solutions within conventional power and energy transition markets. We aim to innovate and maintain long-standing relationships with major energy providers in multiple countries and to deliver energy security for decades to come.We offer a wide range of services including design, construction and commissioning across energy transmission and distribution projects.Responsibilities

Accountable for ensuring that integrated, whole life programmes are prepared from first principles in accordance with the Planning and Work Winning procedures.Ensure tender programmes are critically analysed to ensure that the planning and scheduling underpinning them is appropriate, contract / procedurally compliant, robust, and achievable.Accountable for ensuring that integrated, whole life programmes are prepared and maintained from first principles in accordance with the Planning procedure and Contract requirements.Critically analyse the performance of projects to identify areas of concern, providing guidance to the business on measures to improve performance.Lead roll out and adoption of planning and project controls procedures and processes.Organise resources within their portfolio to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.Adopt a rigorous and proactive regime of audit and review to ensure planning requirements are adopted, minimise non-compliance, drive high standards and ultimately improve project / business performance.Understand client specific requirements and ensure these are catered for.Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with the Client and other project stakeholders.Manage the effective and efficient allocation of resources to projects and tenders.Qualifications

Experience of managing a small team of planners with hands-on experience of large NEC projects of £100 million plus.Experience in contract and tender planning for a Tier 1 contractor.Experience of projects for Overhead Lines, HV Cabling, National Grid or Substations/ Power – ideally.Experience within planning software (P6, Asta, TILOS, QSRA).Degree educated, preferably in a Construction / Engineering discipline.The works are currently split between Norwich, Essex and Suffolk with the client based in Bury St Edmunds; must be happy to travel.Still interested?
