Planning Manager

We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to lead and manage the planning function on Power Project based out of Elgin. This role combines hands-on project planning responsibilities with the leadership and development of the local planning team. The successful candidate will take ownership of one or more project plans, ensuring delivery according to schedule while managing any delays or deviations. You will provide technical expertise, mentoring, and support to the planning team, driving the creation of high-quality, detailed project programmes that support efficient project delivery.

The Planning Manager will work closely with Project Managers and project teams to develop and maintain robust project plans using reliable project management methodologies, ensuring baseline scheduling and effective risk management. You will also be responsible for implementing industry-leading planning processes and procedures, producing project and programme level reporting to enhance business planning intelligence.

This role requires excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and external partners. The ability to lead by example, inspire the team, and foster continuous improvement in planning practices is essential.

Skills
Extensive project planning experience, preferably within power or energy sectors
Strong technical capabilities using Primavera P6 and MS Project
Proven leadership and team management skills, including mentoring and development of planners
Expertise in developing and maintaining detailed, logic-linked project programmes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor and control project deviations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
Experience in risk identification, critical path analysis, and mitigation planning
Ability to produce clear and insightful project reporting and progress updates
Knowledge of project management principles and contract requirements (e.g. NEC)
Experience with project controls and schedule quality assurance

Relevant professional qualifications in project planning or management
