Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Planning Manager to oversee the day-to-day scheduling and operational coordination of RoRo skip movements across the region. This role requires someone who can manage workloads, optimise routes, coordinate drivers, and maintain high service levels while ensuring compliance and cost-efficiency. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting operational growth and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the daily planning and scheduling of RoRo skip collections and deliveries
• Optimise driver routes to maximise efficiency and reduce operational costs
• Liaise with customers, drivers, and yard teams to ensure timely service
• Ensure all compliance requirements are met, including WTD, H&S, and company policies
• Monitor fleet utilisation and react quickly to changes in demand
• Manage booking systems and planning software
• Resolve operational issues promptly and professionally
• Work closely with management to implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide leadership and support to planning/transport teams
• Produce daily/weekly performance reports and KPIs

Requirements

• Proven experience in a planning, scheduling, or operations role within waste management, transport, or RoRo skips
• Strong understanding of skip hire operations, fleet utilisation, and routing
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-changing operational needs
• Competent user of scheduling/transport management systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Leadership experience is advantageous
