About the Role:

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, optimal resource utilisation, and on-time delivery. The role supports the coordination between engineering, procurement, and shop floor teams to maintain smooth production flow and meet customer demand.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules in line with customer orders and capacity
• Plan and coordinate manufacturing activities across the shop floor to ensure workflow efficiency
• Monitor daily production performance against plan and address deviations promptly
• Liaise with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure material and technical readiness
• Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
• Ensure effective allocation of labour, machinery, and materials
• Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems
• Support inventory control by aligning production plans with stock levels and demand forecasts
• Assist in continuous improvement activities to optimise production processes and reduce waste

Health & Safety:

• It is your responsibility to work in a safe manner to promote personal safety and the safety of others to prevent accidents occurring and report all near misses.
• Move materials safely and carefully using the correct mechanical lifting method.
• Use the appropriate PPE and ensure it is in good condition, replace when required.
• Follow the company''s Health & Safety Policy at all times.

About you:

Knowledge and Skills:

• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
• Proven experience in a planning or production control role within manufacturing
• Experience working in a shop floor environment
• Knowledge of production planning systems (MRP/ERP)
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques desirable
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
• Excellent planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Attention to detail and accuracy in scheduling
• Effective communication with cross-functional teams and shop floor personnel
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
• Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
