Kent | 12-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Site-Based (4 Days/Week)
We are recruiting for a Planning Engineer to support a major nuclear defueling and decommissioning programme in Kent. This is a unique opportunity to work on a first-of-its-kind project in the UK, within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.
This is a 12-month contract role, requiring site attendance 4 days per week, and is inside IR35.
Role Overview
As part of the Project Controls team, you will work closely with Project Managers to develop, manage, and maintain project schedules. You will play a key role in integrating cost, risk, resources, and change into robust project plans, supporting effective delivery and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed, logic-linked project schedules
- Establish and manage cost and resource-loaded baseline plans
- Monitor progress, analyse performance, and report on schedule metrics
- Implement and lead Earned Value Management (EVM) practices
- Maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project control frameworks
- Challenge variances and ensure alignment with project baselines
- Collaborate with project controls teams to ensure financial and schedule integration
Requirements
Essential:
- Strong experience using Primavera P6
- Proven ability to develop cost and resource-loaded plans
- Experience with Earned Value Analysis (EVA/EVM)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
Desirable:
- Experience in project controls or project delivery within regulated industries (e.g. nuclear)
- Understanding of estimating, risk, and scheduling tools
- HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
