Planning Compliance or Enforcement Officer – Oxford City CouncilResponsibilities
Carry out a range of proactive and reactive casework under guidance and supervision as required, including investigation of complaints regarding potential breaches of planning control (trees and Listed Buildings). This includes carrying out site visits, gathering information, and conducting initial checks to help determine whether a breach may have occurred.Assist with the preparation of enforcement proceedings, including drafting and issuing formal notices under supervision (Planning Contravention Notices and section 215 notices).Support the appeals process by helping to prepare relevant documentation and case files, and attending hearings where appropriate to observe or provide administrative support.Advise customers on the need for planning permission and provide pre-application planning advice.Assist in monitoring compliance with planning conditions and support other post-decision enforcement matters.Provide administrative or logistical support for planning committees as appropriate.Assist with the preparation of appeal documentation and support the City Council''s position at appeal through written representations or attendance at hearings as required.Contribute to joint working with other internal teams or external partners, including gathering or sharing information as needed.Requirements / Qualifications
Ability to work in a team, with colleagues and other stakeholders in a professional and constructive way.Willingness to develop planning enforcement knowledge; expected to complete a course in planning enforcement within the first 18-24 months.Capability and commitment to learning with a clear pathway for career progression within the team.Seniority level
