Year 4 Teacher & Lower Key Stage 2 Phase Leader

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Salary: London Fringe MPS - UPS (-34,397 - -52,488 per annum) or -169 - -263 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time (Temporary to Permanent opportunities available)

Are you an ambitious and inspirational primary teacher ready to take the next step in your career? Our client, a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Hemel Hempstead, is seeking an outstanding Year 4 Teacher and Lower Key Stage 2 Phase Leader to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about raising standards, driving curriculum excellence, and supporting colleagues through effective leadership. Whether you are an experienced phase leader or an excellent classroom teacher ready to step into leadership, this role offers real scope to make an impact.

The successful candidate will initially join on a temporary basis, with the opportunity for a permanent contract for the right individual.

The Role

You will deliver high-quality teaching in Year 4 while providing leadership across Lower Key Stage 2. You will play a key role in driving pupil outcomes, supporting staff, and contributing to school improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the KS2 curriculum.
  • Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment.
  • Assess and track pupil progress effectively.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Lower KS2 phase to ensure high standards.
  • Work with senior leaders on school improvement priorities.
  • Support and develop colleagues within the phase.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and consistency.

Wider Contribution

  • Work closely with parents and carers to support learning.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives.
  • Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • KS2 teaching experience, ideally in Lower KS2.
  • Strong classroom practice with proven pupil outcomes.
  • Leadership experience or readiness to step into a phase leadership role.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
