Overview
An exciting opportunity within Northumbria Primary Care for a Band 4 Registered Pharmacy Technician to join the team, supporting GP practices within our North Northumberland Neighbourhood (NPC Rothbury, NPC Amble and Broomhill, NPC Widdrington). The successful candidate will work closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to process a wide range of medication related tasks. A base site will be agreed and mileage can be claimed from the base site; the post holder must have business insurance on their policy. The successful candidate will be expected to work between Rothbury and Amble.The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive primary care medicines management system in line with current best practice. Activities will be predominantly within practice but may be required to support wider network needs. The role will contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients (e.g., medicines supply, actioning discharge summary medication changes, liaising with care homes regarding prescription queries, and supporting the move towards online prescription services). An understanding of primary care operations and use of SystmOne would be an advantage but is not essential.Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and manages several GP practices with around 120,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside. Appointees will have a nominated base site within NPC to support continuity and teamwork. Work under the management of the Clinical Pharmacists to deliver a comprehensive medicines management service to ensure a safe and efficient operation, including medicines reconciliation and processing repeat prescription requests.Liaise with pharmacy staff across sectors and other healthcare professionals to provide a patient-oriented medicines management service; conduct medicines reviews for patients identified by the wider multidisciplinary team or from other medicines management initiatives.Collaborate with Clinical Pharmacists as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing medicines management advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.Develop and undertake medicines management audits to support practice discussions and agree subsequent actions.Leadership and Culture
