This full-time permanent position has a starting salary of -34,660 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

This is a full-time role based at the Wray Park Centre in Reigate, with occasional travel across the county.

About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to support the management of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. The role involves undertaking face fit testing for breathing apparatus and respiratory protection, maintaining accurate records and compliance systems, and ensuring PPE remains available, serviceable, and fit for purpose.
Working closely with operational staff and suppliers, you will coordinate PPE sizing and issue processes, support equipment inspection and replacement programmes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of PPE and RPE processes. The successful candidate will also provide wider support to Stores and Logistics functions when required, helping to ensure our firefighters have the equipment they need to work safely and effectively.
Your Application
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills:
- Organised, reliable and practically minded
- Practical experience of the use and maintenance of Breathing Apparatus
- Knowledge of the Fire Service Operations and National Guidance (NOG)
- Knowledge of legislation relating to Health and Safety in the Workplace
- Ability to proactively problem solve and be flexible towards change
- Experience of working within a team, communicating effectively, and demonstrating professionalism
- Ability to work effectively with technology, including competence with basic software or IT equipment
Additional Requirements
The post holder must be willing and able to travel throughout Surrey and to other locations as required to undertake testing, equipment inspections and service support activities.
Please note, the role involves a degree of physical activity, including the lifting, carrying and movement of equipment such as compressed air cylinders, breathing apparatus sets and PPE/stores equipment.
The post holder will be expected to work in accordance with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation.
A DBS ''Disclosure and Barring Service'' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) will be required for this role.

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected.
The provisional allocation for this post is the Combined Fire Authority, subject to final confirmation through the wider transition process later this year.
