The Role
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support male learners within a specialist Post-16 education setting.
The setting supports young people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, providing a supportive environment where learners can develop their independence, confidence and life skills as they prepare for adulthood.
The successful candidate will provide a combination of personal care, physical support and day-to-day assistance, working closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure learners are supported safely, respectfully and with dignity.

Key Responsibilities
* Providing respectful and sensitive support with personal care, including toileting, personal hygiene, dressing and other daily living needs.
* Supporting male learners with their individual care and support requirements throughout the college day.
* Assisting learners with mobility and physical needs, including moving and handling where required.
* Supporting learners to safely access classrooms, activities, communal areas and the wider college environment.
* Encouraging learners to develop independence and life skills, supporting them to do as much for themselves as possible.
* Providing practical support during lessons and activities where required.
* Building positive and trusting relationships with learners while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
* Supporting learners who may have communication, sensory, emotional or behavioural needs.
* Following individual care plans, risk assessments and support plans.
* Working closely with teachers, support staff, therapists and other professionals to provide consistent support.
* Promoting learners'' dignity, choice, privacy and independence at all times.
* Supporting learners with their preparation for adulthood, including developing confidence and practical daily living skills.
* Following safeguarding, health and safety, moving and handling and infection-control procedures.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Caring, patient and compassionate.
* Confident supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities.
* Comfortable providing personal care in a professional, respectful and dignified manner.
* Able to support learners with physical and mobility needs.
* Calm and patient, particularly when supporting learners who may have complex needs.
* A good communicator who can adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
* Reliable, professional and able to work effectively as part of a wider team.
* Committed to promoting independence, dignity and choice.
* Able to follow individual care plans, risk assessments and professional guidance.
* Willing to undertake relevant training, including moving and handling where required.
Experience
Previous experience working with young people or adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, SEND or additional needs would be highly desirable.
Experience of personal care, support work, education, residential care, healthcare or similar environments would also be beneficial.
However, we would consider candidates with transferable experience who demonstrate the right attitude, patience and commitment to supporting young people. Training can be provided where appropriate.
