Job Title: Personal Advisor
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £16.35 per hour
Hours: Part-time (to be discussed)
Role Overview
We are looking for a committed Personal Advisor to support young people leaving care, helping them develop independence and achieve positive outcomes through tailored support, advice, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as named Personal Advisor for care leavers, coordinating support and driving positive outcomes
- Support young people aged 16–18 alongside social workers, assisting with transition into adulthood
- Deliver one-to-one and group interventions to build life skills, independence, and ETE outcomes
- Provide guidance on health, education, employment, and social development
- Undertake assessments, pathway planning, statutory visits, and maintain accurate records
- Produce clear reports and contribute to reviews and planning processes
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals and attend relevant meetings
- Manage budgets and support service delivery for care leavers
- Advocate for young people, ensuring their voices are central to all planning
- Support vulnerable groups including Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children
Requirements
- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) and Level 2 qualification
- Experience working with vulnerable young people and multi-agency teams
- Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills
- Experience in social care, education, health, or community settings
- Enhanced DBS for Adults and Children on the Update Service (essential)
