- Role: Permit & Access Engineer
- Location: Middlesborough
- Salary: £30k per annum
- Overtime: Overtime is calculated at time plus a half Monday to Saturday. Sundays at Double time.
- Working Hours: Site hours are between 7am-7pm Monday to Friday. 47.5hours per week.
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Permit and Access Engineer on behalf of a respected civil engineering and construction company operating within a large, secure, multi-tenanted site. This is a pivotal role within the contract, providing essential support to ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated access and permit management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the key point of contact between the project team, stakeholders, client representatives, and tenants regarding site access and permits.
- Manage and coordinate multiple access requests and permits across a complex, high-security site.
- Maintain and monitor programme dates to ensure all access requirements align with project timelines.
- Conduct regular site visits and accompany tenants where necessary to assess access requirements.
- Ensure all documentation and processes meet safety, security, and regulatory standards.
- Communicate professionally via face-to-face meetings, email, and digital platforms.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain workflow continuity.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong understanding of permit-to-work and access procedures within secure or high-risk environments.
- Previous experience in the petrochemical and/or construction industry is highly desirable.
- A high level of education and the ability to understand technical and procedural documentation.
- Exceptional communication and organisational skills, with a professional and proactive approach.
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and demonstrate a solution-focused, collaborative mindset.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
This role is Primarily office-based within the site office, with regular visits across the wider site as required. The role is based on a large, secure, multi-tenanted site, so discretion and professionalism are essential
