The Role
The role of the post-holder is to act as technician for the Dance, Drama and Performing Arts departments. You will be required to manage the technical requirements for lessons and public performances following consultation with relevant staff members. You will also be responsible for all performance spaces, storage and equipment. The post-holder will be required to be flexible and adaptable in responding to the needs of the department, its staff and students.
- The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Maintenance of all electrical equipment, particularly sound and lighting
- Management of all aspects of Health and Safety within teaching and performance spaces
- To act as resident Stage Manager for all productions
- Attendance in lessons and rehearsals where technical support is required in order to be able to effectively operate in performance and for examinations

The Successful Candidate
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well established Performing Arts department.
The Performing Arts department is looking for someone who has experience of technical work in a theatre or educational environment, who has excellent communication, flexibility and organisational skills and is flexible with working hours to incorporate evening performances.
You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
Hours: This is an annualised hours contract for 468 hours per annum (an average of 12 hours per week) to be worked during term time (39 weeks). The hours will be worked in line with the indicative performance and rehearsal schedule included within the job pack, and will include some evening commitments. The remaining hours are to be worked flexibly across the academic year, in agreement with the department.
Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 7 to 8 – pro rata to £24,953 to £25,330 per annum. Actual Salary £6,982.79 to £7,088.29 per annum
