Our client is a leading international law firm with offices across the United States, Europe and Asia. Its London office is an established hub for the firm''s European operations, combining the resources and expertise of a global organisation with a collaborative, inclusive and personable working culture.

Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to provide comprehensive support to the Payroll Manager, with primary responsibility for payroll operations across the firm''s UK & EMEA offices.

The role

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused payroll professional to join a fast-paced professional services environment. The successful candidate will work closely with HR, Finance, external payroll providers and employees across multiple European locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Collate, check and process monthly payroll data for UK & European offices, including confirming starters, leavers and contractual changes
  • Collate and reconcile monthly overtime information and submit data for processing within agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare and send payroll data to external payroll providers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review payroll outputs, identify discrepancies and coordinate any required amendments with the Payroll Manager and external providers.
  • Process leavers, including final payments, P45s and associated documentation.
  • Reconcile personal deductions, including childcare vouchers, cycle-to-work schemes and season ticket loans.
  • Process payroll-related and supplier invoices through the firm''s expense and invoice system.
  • Collate, verify and process lawyer payroll invoices for the European offices.
  • Prepare and post monthly payroll journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Process benefit-related invoices and provide support with benefit administration.
  • Assist with the annual renewal of private medical and dental insurance arrangements and prepare quarterly reports where required.
  • Manage the European payroll inbox and respond promptly and professionally to employee queries.
  • Distribute payroll documentation, including payslips and P45s, to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with data protection legislation and statutory retention requirements.
  • Support other accounting duties and special projects as required.

About you

The successful candidate will be hardworking, enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a proactive approach and a willingness to learn. You will be comfortable working in a professional, fast-moving environment and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

You should have:

  • Approximately two years'' relevant payroll experience, preferably covering more than one jurisdiction.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet regular deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Intermediate level excel skills.
  • A professional, discreet and service-focused approach when handling confidential information.
