Payroll and Accounts Assistant

Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a well-established business with the recruitment of a Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team. This is a varied, hands-on position offering exposure across purchase ledger, payroll, sales ledger, credit control and month-end accounting, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a broad finance role rather than focusing on just one area. You will work closely with the wider finance team to ensure suppliers and employees are paid accurately and on time, while also supporting invoicing, cash collection and the preparation of management accounts. Full-time Permanent Fully Office-Based Key Responsibilities Take primary responsibility for the purchase ledger, matching supplier invoices against purchase orders and resolving any discrepancies or queries. Prepare supplier payment runs and load payments onto the banking system for approval. Complete supplier statement reconciliations and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time. Prepare and process the weekly payroll for warehouse employees. Provide cover across the sales ledger, including raising customer invoices and allocating incoming payments. Assist with the collection of outstanding customer debts. Analyse financial transactions and prepare journals to support the monthly management accounts process.
