Payroll Administrator - Maternity Cover
Location: Stevenston
Hours: 30 hours per week
Salary: -16.70 per hour
Contract: 9-12 Month Maternity Cover
Working Pattern: Ideally Monday to Wednesday plus an additional half day
Hours: Around 8.30am-5.00pm, with flexibility
We are currently recruiting an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a busy Finance team on a maternity cover contract for approximately 9-12 months.
This is a part-time position working 30 hours per week and would suit someone with previous payroll experience who is highly accurate, organised and confident working to weekly deadlines.
You will be joining a Finance team of five and will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of a high-volume weekly payroll for approximately 280 employees, alongside a small monthly payroll.
The company uses Summit, a construction payroll system which is straightforward to use. The role will involve manually inputting timesheet information, checking data for accuracy and following up on any outstanding or incomplete timesheets.
What you''ll be doing
- Processing weekly payroll from start to finish for approximately 280 employees
- Manually inputting and checking timesheets
- Chasing outstanding timesheets to ensure payroll deadlines are met
- Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes
- Calculating SSP, SMP and SPP accurately
- Managing pension contributions and Auto Enrolment
- Processing RTI and EPS submissions
- Handling payroll queries and resolving discrepancies
- Liaising with HMRC when required
- Ensuring payroll records remain accurate, compliant and up to date
What we''re looking for
Previous payroll experience is essential for this role.
You''ll need to be:
- Highly accurate with strong numerical skills
- Organised and able to work to payroll deadlines
- Confident dealing with a high volume of payroll information
- Comfortable chasing information and resolving queries
- Knowledgeable about payroll processes, pensions and statutory payments
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information professionally
Experience using Summit payroll software would be helpful, but the system is straightforward to use.
