Pastoral Lead – Secondary School – Walsall
An outstanding secondary school in Walsall is seeking an experienced Pastoral Lead to support students' behaviour, attendance, welfare and personal development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident pastoral professional who can build positive relationships with young people, support students through challenges and help create an environment where they can thrive both academically and personally. Working closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, families and external agencies, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of behaviour and ensuring students receive the right support to overcome barriers to learning. The successful Pastoral Lead will have experience working within a secondary school and be confident managing challenging situations, addressing attendance concerns and supporting students with a range of pastoral needs.
Job Role:
- Lead on day-to-day pastoral support for students
- Monitor behaviour, attendance and student welfare
- Build positive relationships with students and their families
- Support students experiencing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties
- Respond to pastoral concerns and help resolve issues effectively
- Work closely with teachers, Heads of Year and the Senior Leadership Team
- Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals where required
- Support behaviour strategies and promote high expectations
- Identify barriers to learning and help put appropriate support in place
- Contribute to a safe, positive and purposeful school environment
- Previous pastoral experience within a secondary school
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Confidence dealing with challenging situations
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, resilient and consistent approach
