We are working with a well-regarded mainstream Secondary School in Colchester, rated GOOD by Ofsted, that is seeking a dedicated and proactive Pastoral Lead. This Colchester school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where students are encouraged to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Job Overview:
- This school caters for students aged 11-16.
- Full-time, Monday - Friday Pastoral Lead role.
- Provide pastoral support and guidance to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Support behaviour management, attendance and student wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships with students, families and external agencies.
- Work closely with Heads of Year, SENCOs, safeguarding teams and senior leaders.
- Deliver interventions and mentoring support for vulnerable students.
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience and emotional wellbeing throughout the school.
- Support with safeguarding procedures and student welfare concerns.
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve engagement and attendance.
This Pastoral Lead role in Colchester offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and ambitious school community, with a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing and professional development. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
What we''re looking for:
- Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding or student support role within a secondary school.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to support students with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- Calm, resilient and proactive approach.
- Experience working alongside families and external agencies is desirable.
- Safeguarding knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
