The closing date is 28 September 2025We are looking to appoint to 2PAs part-time Consultant Neurological Surgeon to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. A candidate with an interest in Epilepsy Surgery is sought to contribute to the continued development of the service in Sheffield. This post is fixed term for one year.Main duties of the job

The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of adult neurosurgical services to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.The appointee will be expected to contribute to the delivery of complex epilepsy surgery.The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the new consultant contract. An annual review of duties will take place with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Director as part of the job plan process.About us

Qualification

Full registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC).Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.Royal College of Surgeons Intercollegiate Examination in Neurosurgery or equivalent.Higher degree, distinctions, prizes, awards, scholarships relevant to the postPersonal Attributes

Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice, where appropriate.Publications in refereed journalsAbility to supervise research performed by othersCompetence and Clinical Skills

Able to provide an expert opinion in a range of conditions in neurosurgery.Demonstrable competence in general neurosurgery.Ability to practice evidence-based medicine.Clinical Experience

Experience of working in a tertiary neurosurgical unit in the UK.Ability to work as an independent practitioner in this post.Routine spinal surgery experience.Evidence of effective team working in a multi-professional environment.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
