About the Role
This Part Time Energy Advisor (3 full days) role based in Oxford offers a chance to support households facing energy-related difficulties. Working three days weekly for a salary of £26,000 to £26,500 per annum (pro rata), you will combine home visits with telephone advice, advocacy, and community outreach. The position requires a full UK driving licence and vehicle access. Responsibilities include providing one-to-one guidance, helping people access support schemes, and resolving issues with energy suppliers. You will advocate for vulnerable community members, offering compassionate, practical assistance. The role also involves telephone consultations and liaising with external agencies. We are looking for a compassionate, community-focused individual for our client which supports households facing energy-related challenges.
This is an incredibly varied and rewarding role combining home visits, telephone advice, advocacy and community outreach. You will help people understand their options, access support schemes and overcome issues with energy providers, often supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
Duties will include:
- Providing one-to-one advice and support to households.
- Advocating with energy suppliers to resolve problems and secure positive outcomes.
- Helping people access grants, funding and support schemes.
- Building relationships with local organisations and referral partners.
- Delivering talks, outreach sessions and attending community events.
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes.
- Ensuring services are delivered safely, professionally and in line with safeguarding requirements.
We are looking for:
You will be empathetic, organised and a confident communicator who enjoys helping others.
We are particularly interested in people with experience in community work, advice services, housing, support work, welfare, customer advocacy or the charity sector.
You will have:
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals or communities.
- Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- A genuine commitment to improving people''s lives.
Knowledge of energy, housing or community support services would be advantageous but isn''t necessarily essential.
