ProTalent are working on behalf of a long-established and highly respected firm of Chartered Accountants in Brighton & Hove who are looking to strengthen their growing team with the addition of a Senior or Semi-Senior Accountant.

The RoleYou will take on a varied and client-facing role, ensuring high standards of service and compliance. Responsibilities will include:

Preparing and reviewing financial statements, annual accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, and management reports.

Building strong relationships with clients, providing advice, and supporting them with their accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).

Supervising and mentoring junior accountants and trainees, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development.

Ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and the latest tax legislation.

Staying up to date with regulatory changes and adapting processes as required.

Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance client service.
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, client-focused, and eager to develop their career within a supportive environment. You will bring:

AAT/ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified status.

At least 2 years’ experience in practice, with a solid grounding in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and tax returns.

Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax compliance.

Experience with accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and good Excel skills.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to clients.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.

Salary: £26,500 – £32,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays, rising to 25 with service.
