Parks Operative - Belfast City Council | -14.35 per hour

Location: Malone Road / Shaw''s Bridge area, Belfast, BT9 5PB

Contract: Temporary, 12 Weeks (with potential for extension)

Hours: 37 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 07:30-15:30, Friday 07:30-15:00

Pay: -14.35 per hour (PAYE)

Start Date: 07 September 2026

Hatched Recruitment Group is currently recruiting on behalf of Belfast City Council for a Parks Operative to join their Parks and Cemeteries Operational Services team, working within the City and Neighbourhood Services Department.

The Role

As a Parks Operative, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of parks, green spaces and council grounds. Duties include:

• Grass cutting, hedge trimming, edging, planting and general horticultural work
• Driving and maintaining allocated vehicles (van, trailer, ride-on mower)
• Use of powered hand tools and light plant machinery
• Litter picking and keeping sites in a clean, safe, orderly condition
• Assisting with inspection of playgrounds and park furniture
• Dealing courteously and professionally with members of the public
• Completing daily paperwork and reporting any hazards or incidents

What We''re Looking For

• Full, current C1+E driving licence (essential)
• At least 1 year''s relevant experience in gardening/horticulture, grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting etc.
• Experience using powered hand tools/equipment safely
• Experience dealing with the public face-to-face
• Willingness to undergo a driving assessment as part of the selection process
• Eligibility to work in the UK
