Parenting Assessor

Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking experienced Parenting Assessors for several temporary positions within the Derbyshire area for an initial duration of three months. These are full-time positions working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Overview:

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children and families by assessing parenting capacity, identifying strengths and risks, and supporting positive change. You will undertake high-quality parenting assessments using the East Midlands Parenting Assessment Framework, providing clear analysis of parenting strengths, areas for development, and the impact on children''s safety, wellbeing and development.

Main Duties:

• Undertake comprehensive parenting assessments and provide evidence-based analysis and recommendations
• Work directly with children, parents and carers, building positive relationships while providing support and respectful challenge
• Assess risk, parenting capacity and the ability of parents to meet their children''s emotional and developmental needs
• Facilitate and observe family time sessions, assessing parent-child interactions, attachment and attunement
• Work collaboratively with social workers, health professionals, education providers, police and other partner agencies
• Produce clear assessments, reports and recommendations for use within multi-agency and legal processes
• Identify strengths, barriers and capacity for change within families

Essential Criteria:

• Relevant professional qualification in social care, childcare, family support or a related field
• Experienced in assessing the needs of children and families
• Experience of working with families experiencing emotional, personal or practical difficulties
• Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and child-focused practice
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multi-agency environment
