Overview

We are recruiting for three Paralegals and/or Conveyancing Assistants to join the Real Estate Residential department at our head office in Spinningfields, Manchester.Previous experience within a conveyancing team would be preferred but is not essential. These roles will be supporting fee earners with their caseloads. The team typically deal with:Freehold and leasehold sales and purchasesNew build propertiesHelp to Buy propertiesShared Ownership propertiesRemortgagesBuilders and DevelopersThis will be a fantastic opportunity for the successful applicants to develop their legal knowledge in a friendly and supportive environment. You would be joining a dynamic and growing department.These roles will be fully office-based initially, with the option to work from home one day a week following a settling in period.Responsibilities

Ensuring clients and introducers always receive the best possible serviceCommunicating with clients of the department in a professional and courteous mannerReceiving telephone calls into the department; dealing with the calls as far as is possible and directing the calls where appropriateDealing with straightforward enquiriesMaking calls to clients and third parties involved in the conveyancing transactionOrdering searchesDrafting search reports and mortgage reports under the supervision of a conveyancerResponding promptly to requests for updates from clients, estate agents, brokers and introducersUpdating introducer portals where necessaryOrdering documents from HMLROrdering bankruptcy searches, priority searches and company searchesPreparing files for completionEnsuring that the case management is fully up to dateUsing own initiative to progress files within the limits of own abilityFlagging any issues/concerns to conveyancer with responsibility for the matterUndertaking any other tasks that may be required to assist the departmentKnowledge, Skills and Experience

Excellent IT skills particularly with experience in Word, Excel and OutlookAbility to communicate well orally and in writing, including dealing directly with clients when requiredStrong team working ethicAbility to work well under pressure and be proactiveAbility to manage workload and prioritise effectivelyTeam player – work well with others, provide support where necessary, and know your limits and when to seek guidancePrevious experience within a conveyancing team would be advantageous.A Law degree is desirable but not essentialWorking for JMW
