Our financial services client are current seeking an experienced Paralegal to join the Legal Office in Dunton, Essex. Revised Position Overview Work collaboratively with members of the FCE Legal Office and business teams to assist with consumer complaints and litigation, conduct legal research, provide support to the Company Secretary and deliver other key support for the Legal team. You will:
Responsibilities
- Support customer complaints, litigation and regulatory projects as required.
- Support monitoring for compliance with laws, regulations, guidance issued by relevant regulatory bodies, and Company policy.
- Assist the Legal team with and perform legal research and analysis.
- Assist with onboarding and processing invoices from external counsel and litigation reporting.
- Support the Company Secretary with Board packs, meeting minutes and other tasks as required.
- Coordinate Board, Committee and senior governance meetings, including logistics, scheduling and document management.
- Prepare, compile, proofread and distribute Board and Committee packs within agreed deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation, review and maintenance of Board and Committee minutes and records.
- Work in a hybrid environment (4 days in the office, 1 day from home).
Skills Required:
- Working understanding of UK consumer credit law and regulatory framework of a UK bank
- Excellent research, issue-spotting and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure against deadlines and deliver results
- Attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset
- Strong organisational and administration skills, and proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
- Effective communication skills to apply with directors, non-executive directors, senior management and employees in various departments (Accounting, Compliance, Operations, etc)
- Previous experience supporting a Company Secretary, corporate governance function, Board of Directors or Board Committees is desirable.
- Experience preparing Board papers, Board packs, meeting agendas and minutes is desirable.
- Ability to work confidently with senior executives, directors and non-executive directors.
- Excellent document management, organisational and stakeholder-coordination skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and document collaboration platforms.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Education Required:
- Have a law degree from a UK university or a degree and passed the PGDL or have at least three years
- Experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or bank.
