Purpose and objectives of the role
Experienced and highly organised Pallet Network Manager to oversee and optimise our pallet distribution network. This role is responsible for managing the pallet network team as well as relationships with pallet network customers, ensuring efficient freight movement in designated delivery areas. The role will include managing office staff, drivers, vehicles/ trailers and optimising resources whilst controlling costs and maintaining high service levels
Main duties and responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of pallet network distribution, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods – this will include office staff, planners, FLT drivers and HGV drivers.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and pallet network customers and partners
- Monitor network performance, including service levels, delivery times, and damage rates
- Analyse transport data to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements
- Manage resources effectively to optimise performance.
- Resolve escalations, service failures, and customer complaints related to pallet deliveries
- Negotiate rates and service agreements with pallet network providers
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport, safety, and regulatory requirements – coordinate with Transport Manager and Managing Director.
- Collaborate with warehouse, transport, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations
- Implement KPIs and performance tracking for network efficiency and service quality
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across pallet distribution processes
Additional duties and responsibilities
- Proven experience in pallet network operations or transport/logistics management
- Strong understanding of UK pallet networks and distribution systems
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Commercial approach
Special Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred)
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification (desirable but not essential)
