This is a first-class Packing Supervisor position; this role will be office based in Immingham! This role offers a clear pathway to Production Manager level for candidates who demonstrate strong leadership, operational control, and the ability to drive sustained performance improvement.

  
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
Annual base Salary of £40,000 per annum
Monday to Friday working hours, office based in Immingham.
33 days holiday leave, inclusive of bank holidays.

THE BUSINESS  
Our client specialises within the Agricultural sector, they are a true market leader within their niche. They seek to appoint a Packing Supervisor on a permanent basis from day one. To take full operational ownership of the packing area, ensuring safe, efficient, and controlled execution of the production plan across multiple lines. This role is accountable for driving performance through team leaders, stabilising daily operations, and building standards in a fast-paced, developing manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely administrative or reporting position


THE ROLE

1. Operational Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate 4 packing lines to deliver daily production targets
  • Translate the production plan into clear, achievable priorities for team leaders
  • Actively manage line performance throughout the shift (not from an office)
  • Intervene early to resolve issues impacting output, quality, or safety
  1. Team Leadership & Accountability
  • Directly manage and develop 2 Team Leaders
  • Set clear expectations for standards, behaviours, and output
  • Hold team leaders accountable for performance, attendance, and discipline
  • Ensure consistent supervision and control across all lines
  1. Performance & Control
  • Drive key metrics including:
    • Output vs plan
    • Downtime and line efficiency
    • Labour utilisation
    • Waste and rework
  • Identify root causes of poor performance and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain control of labour deployment across lines
  1. Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce safe systems of work at all times
  • Challenge unsafe behaviours immediately
  • Ensure all activities comply with site procedures and risk assessments
  • Support incident investigations and corrective actions
  1. Problem Solving & Escalation
  • Take ownership of day-to-day operational issues
  • Resolve problems relating to materials, labour, equipment, or planning
  • Escalate effectively when required, with clear solutions or recommendations
  • Reduce reliance on Production Manager intervention
  1. Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and maintain basic operating standards across all packing lines
  • Drive consistency in ways of working between shifts and teams
  • Identify and implement practical improvements to efficiency and organisation
  • Support the introduction of structured processes where gaps exist
  1. Communication
  • Act as the key link between production, logistics, and planning
  • Ensure clear shift handovers and communication of priorities
  • Provide accurate and timely updates on performance and issues
  
  
THE PERSON
Essential
  • Proven experience supervising manufacturing or packing operations
  • Experience managing team leaders or senior operators
  • Ability to manage multiple lines or workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong presence on the shop floor with a hands-on leadership style
  • Confident decision-maker under pressure
Desirable
  • Experience in bulk materials, chemicals, fertiliser, or similar environments
  • Exposure to developing or stabilising underperforming operations
  • Basic understanding of lean / continuous improvement principles
