This exciting role as a Packaging Technologist offers the opportunity to work across a range of new product development (NPD) processes within the FMCG/food sector. You will have a key focus on managing packaging costs while delivering value-added activities that enhance product packaging and contribute directly to business success. The role demands a proactive and solution-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about packaging innovations and sustainability. Based in Chester, you will collaborate closely with R&D, production, and procurement teams to bring packaging concepts to life and ensure optimal quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

As a Packaging Technologist, you will play an essential role in supporting new product development (NPD) processes from concept to completion.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative packaging solutions that meet product requirements.
• Oversee cost management and ensure packaging activities remain within budget.
• Drive value-added activities that enhance packaging efficiency, sustainability, and quality.
• Evaluate packaging materials and suppliers to optimise performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and industry regulations regarding packaging standards.
• Support production teams in troubleshooting packaging challenges and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Packaging Technologist or in a related packaging development role within the FMCG or food industry.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing costs and driving value improvement activities.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant qualifications in packaging technology, food science, or related discipline preferred.
