We are currently working with a leading food manufacturing group known for their innovation, quality, and multi-category expertise. With a strong presence across protein categories and a growing reputation in the seafood sector, our client is seeking an experienced Packaging Technologist to join their dynamic development team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and improvement of food packaging within a forward-thinking, sustainability-focused business. The role spans new product development, structural packaging improvements, and cost-saving initiatives, while also providing hands-on operational support across multiple sites.
The Role:
You will collaborate closely with Development Chefs, NPD Managers, Process Technologists, Commercial, and Operational teams to:
Deliver packaging solutions for new product briefs, ensuring fitness for purpose and compliance with customer guidelines.
Present packaging concepts to clients as required.
Support packaging trials and travel testing, contributing to on-time product launches.
Manage the artwork process using internal and retailer platforms.
Generate cutter guides and coordinate print runs where relevant.
Handle packaging specifications, BRC certifications, and waste data reporting.
Work on cost-saving initiatives and packaging optimisation in collaboration with the procurement team.
Provide day-to-day technical packaging support to operational teams across two production sites.
What We''re Looking For:
Minimum 2 years'' experience as a Packaging Technologist within the food manufacturing industry.
Knowledge of seafood or protein-based manufacturing is an advantage.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong understanding of own label vs. branded product processes.
Comfortable working flexible hours and across multiple sites when necessary.
Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Full driving licence required.
