Package Manager
to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic
Old Oak Common
development in London. HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.As a
Package Manager
you will lead the delivery of the Structural Steel package, overseeing subcontractor deliverables, monitoring performance, and ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld. You’ll manage daily interface activities, coordinate construction sequencing strategies, and analyse scope to identify gaps. Your role will also involve preparing procurement documentation, collaborating with designers, and driving value engineering initiatives to enhance design efficiency and buildability.What you\''ll be doing
Lead delivery of Structural Steel works for the Conventional StationEnsure safe, healthy, and environmentally sound execution of worksManage day-to-day operations and lead a team of two Assistant Package ManagersOversee subcontractor design and delivery in collaboration with design teamSupport contract management and issue communications via QSTrack subcontractor deliverables and manage Activity Readiness certificationHandle documentation approvals and liaise with wider BBVS teamMonitor subcontractor performance and identify improvement opportunitiesResolve escalated issues between subcontractorsAccurately report progress, site operatives, and plant activityWho we\''re looking for
Essential Qualifications and Certifications:Degree (BSc, MSc, BEng) in Civil Engineering or equivalent GNVQCSCS cardEligible to work and live in the UKExperience in similar infrastructure environmentsDesirable Qualifications:SMSTS certificationMembership of ICE, APM or similar professional bodyEssential Skills and Experience:Strong understanding of NEC3 contracts and notifiable eventsCivil engineering experience on large infrastructure projectsFamiliarity with Works Information and procurement processesSite activity management and subcontractor performance monitoringExperience with multidisciplinary interfaces, temporary works, and lifting solutionsClear and reliable reporting capabilitiesDesirable Skills and Experience:Experience in structural steel, roofing, cladding, and glazingFamiliarity with Network Rail, TFL, Thames Water, and other utilitiesNEC3 contract implementation and communicationKnowledge of document control systems (BC, eB, CEMAR)Why work for us
