Location: Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire 

Employment Type: Full time 

Working Hours: (Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities available)

About the role…

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Overhead Line Person Training Assessor to join our growing training team. This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional with extensive overhead line experience to develop the next generation of electrical distribution professionals.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality overhead line training programmes, assessing learner competence against industry standards. If you have significant overhead line experience and are passionate about developing others, we'd like to hear from you. Whether you are already an experienced trainer or looking to move into training and assessment, this is an exciting opportunity to build a rewarding career while helping shape the next generation of industry professionals.

 

As a Overhead Line Person Training Assessor you will…

Deliver high-quality Overhead Line Person training programmes to learners across the electrical distribution industry.

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging practical and theoretical training sessions and conduct examinations and assessments in line with occupational standards for learning and development.

Assess candidates in accordance with the examination and assessment strategy for relevant programmes and qualifications.

Examine and assess learners against agreed criteria, ensuring consistency, fairness and compliance.

Support invigilators and ensure examination activities comply with industry regulations and best practice.

Review assessment applications and learner-generated evidence, including claims for unit exemptions and equivalency.

Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation.

Work closely with the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to maintain quality assurance standards.

Attend and actively contribute to standardisation meetings, quality reviews and continuous improvement activities.

Maintain impartiality throughout the assessment process and declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest.

Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.

 

About you…

Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant electrical, engineering or utility discipline.

Extensive practical experience within the overhead line or electrical distribution industry.

Strong technical knowledge of overhead line construction, maintenance and operational practices.

Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop learners.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Full UK driving licence

 

Desirable:

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent).

Level 3 Assessor Qualification (CAVA or equivalent).

Relevant utility industry authorisations or competency certifications.

 

Applicants who do not currently hold teaching or assessor qualifications will be supported to achieve:

Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

Level 3 Assessor Qualification.
