Roughing and Polishing is responsible for shaping, smoothing, and finishing optical components such as lenses, prisms, and mirrors. This role requires precision, dexterity, and expertise in manual and machine-assisted polishing techniques to meet strict optical quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Rough grind optical components to approximate shape using abrasives and precision tools. Polish lenses, mirrors, and prisms to achieve optical-grade surface finish. Measure surface quality, curvature, and flatness using interferometers, spherometers, and other optical metrology tools. Inspect components for defects, scratches, or surface irregularities. Maintain and calibrate polishing and grinding equipment. Document processes, times, and results for quality control and traceability. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to meet design specifications. Follow safety protocols for chemicals, abrasives, and laser testing.
