Optical Engineer

Optical Engineer | Zemax £50 - £60 Per Hour Outside IR35 6 months Cambridgeshire This is a 6-month contract for an Optical Engineer experienced with Zemax to join our client and support the design, modelling and simulation of optoelectronic applications. Role responsibilities:Design and simulate advanced optical components using tools like Zemax, Lumerical, DIMOS, or Techwiz.Perform hands-on optical experiments and metrology, including interferometry.Analyse sample performance and feed back into new product designs.Collaborate with Randamp;D, engineering, and customer teams to drive innovation.Support optical characterisation and test. Skills, Qualifications andamp; Experience:Excellent understanding of optical physics, birefringence, and polarisation.Proficient in optical modelling tools (Zemax, Lumerical, DIMOS, Techwiz).Experience with liquid crystals is a strong plus.Some programming experience with Python or MATLAB is desirable.
