Yard Manager / Operations Supervisor – Waste & Recycling

Salary: £50,000 basic
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am – 5pm
Location: Halton, Lancaster, Heysham and surrounding areas

A busy waste management and recycling facility is looking for an experienced Yard Manager / Operations Supervisor to take charge of day-to-day site operations. This is a great opportunity for a proven supervisor or yard manager who wants to make a real impact on a growing operation.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, you’ll make sure the yard runs safely, efficiently and productively every day. You’ll lead the operational team, keep materials moving, and maintain high standards of compliance across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the intake, processing, storage and dispatch of waste and recyclable materials
• Lead, motivate and support yard and production operatives to hit daily targets
• Coordinate plant, machinery and equipment so the site runs safely and efficiently
• Drive high standards of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance
• Track operational performance and find ways to improve productivity
• Help with operational planning, stock control and resource allocation
• Support the Site Manager with the overall running of the facility

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in scrap metal, waste management, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, manufacturing, production, logistics or another heavy industrial setting
• A background in a supervisory, team leader, yard manager or shift management role
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team
• A proactive, organised approach with good problem-solving skills
• A firm commitment to Health & Safety
• IOSH or NEBOSH certification

Desirable

• COTC / WAMITAB qualification
• Full UK driving licence

This role would suit someone currently working as an Operations Supervisor, Yard Manager, Recycling Supervisor, Waste Site Supervisor, Shift Manager, Production Supervisor, Plant Supervisor, Team Leader, Assistant Site Manager or Assistant Operations Manager.
