WSR is recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager on behalf of a growing manufacturing business based in Milton Keynes. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring that people, processes, systems and resources work effectively to deliver excellent customer service, high-quality products, operational efficiency and profitable growth.
The successful candidate will lead continuous improvement across production planning, procurement, supply chain, logistics, quality, stock control, compliance and team performance. This opportunity would suit a commercially focused and results-driven operations professional with strong manufacturing, engineering or construction-sector experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across production, planning and service delivery.
- Review and improve operational processes, workflows and systems.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, budgets and service levels.
- Manage procurement, supplier performance, warehousing, logistics and distribution.
- Maintain accurate stock levels aligned with customer demand, production requirements and cash-flow targets.
- Improve forecasting, replenishment and inventory-control processes.
- Control operational costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and margins.
- Maintain accurate operational reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
- Use ERP data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Lead, motivate and develop the operations team.
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations.
- Support workforce planning, coaching, delegation and succession planning.
- Maintain high standards of quality, compliance and health and safety.
Key Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar leadership position.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, procurement, logistics, supply chain, stock control and quality management.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics NAV or a similar ERP system.
- Proven ability to improve processes, productivity, cost control and operational performance.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Commercially aware, analytical and confident using operational data.
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
Salary and Benefits
- £70,000 basic salary.
- Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
- Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm.
- 23 days'' holiday, increasing by one day for each completed year of service up to an additional five days, plus bank holidays.
